Introduction
For my first post on my website I figured I’d keep it light and do a list of my favourite movies. I love telling people about my favourite movies and if you know me I’d love to hear your thoughts about my picks!
Movies I Watched in 2025
I didn’t keep good track of the movies I watched in 2025, but I’m keeping better track this year so next year’s list will list out all the movies I watched in 2026.
Favourite Movies
In future editions of this list I’ll note if there are any changes, like if I watched a movie in the past year that made the list need to be updated then I’ll say so. For this first time, here’s just my list of favourite movies.
1. Arrival (2016)

I love this movie! Obviously, it wouldn’t be #1 on my list otherwise! The funny thing about that is that I wasn’t even planning on seeing it ever! I went to the theatre to see Fantastic Beasts, but they were sold out or something - I can’t really remember, but we couldn’t see that. So we went to see Arrival instead. Anyways, I ended up enjoying this movie so much I went back and re-watched it a few more times in theatres.
Denis Villeneuve is now one of, if not my favourite directors - I pretty much love everything he’s directed. Something about the way he composes a shot really does something for me. That combined with the music, it just - I can’t really explain. It always feels like every shot in a Denis Villeneuve movie just has extreme aura. And as a bonus he’s Québecois (French Canadian) so there’s a bit of Canadian pride there too!
2. Interstellar (2014)
Letterboxd | IMDb | TMDB

This might seem like a very sheeple sort of take, like this is on so many people’s list of favourite movies, but I really genuinely enjoy this movie so much every time I re-watch it. For me it’s one of those movies I wish I could go back to the first time I watched it and experience it for the first time again. Super basic take, I know, but I don’t really care.
3. Spirited Away (2001)
Letterboxd | IMDb | TMDB

I love this movie. This movie is a warm hug to me. I know Studio Ghibli movies are that for most people, but this is my favourite (followed very closely by Ponyo).
Conclusion
I’ll hopefully be more organized for next year’s list - I look forward to seeing how the year goes in terms of movies. I’m really wanting to work hard to watch new movies and not just re-watch old movies. We’ll see how it goes. If you want to follow along in real-time, take a look at my Letterboxd page. I’m not like an elite reviewer but I like to leave my thoughts on the movies I watch whenever I watch them.
Thanks for reading! ✌️
